Research Appointments

PLEASE NOTE: The City Archives (2615 Mathews St.) will be closed to the public for renovations starting in late April 2026. The closure will last approximately two months. We will post specific closing and re-opening dates on our homepage when they have been confirmed.

To request a research appointment at the Baltimore City Archives, please supply the information below. Appointments are available Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 10am and 3pm, and 5pm-8pm on the 4th Wednesday of each month. Additionally, please consult the scheduled closing dates prior to submitting your request.

Appointments must be confirmed by staff. We request three business days' advance notice for appointments. Exceptions may be granted on a limited basis for returning researchers only.

You should receive an appointment confirmation via email within two business days. If you have not received this e-mail, your appointment is not confirmed. If you have not received any response within two business days, please e-mail msa.bca@maryland.gov or call us at (410) 396-3884.

Depending on your topic of interest, the records you wish to view, and the staff available on the date you select, we may request to change your appointment so that we can best accommodate your research needs.
